Community Health

Throughout the senior year, we participated in many community events and went to Los Angeles, Burbank, and cities in San Fernando area for screening and fluoride varnish applications for the students in elementary through high schools.  In the event, we were given the opportunity to teach oral hygiene instruction and lectured about development of cavity and choices of healthier snacks.  I enjoyed participating in the community events. The community services gave me the opportunity to perform my duties as a health care provider. As a health care provider, I am dedicated to helping other preventing dental disease and maintain good oral health. I see myself volunteering in more community events in the future after graduation.

In May 2015, our dental hygiene program hosted a health fair at West Los Angeles College and provided students with a variety of venders offering dental screening, dental hygiene tools, oral health education, acupuncture, fitness, health insurance, blood pressure screening, and glucose monitoring. The event went successful.
